In another low ratings story the newly released Knight Rider TV show which follows on from the Feb TV movie has had it’s ratings information released for the new episode.
This time instead of getting the expected audience of 12.7 million which was the number of people who watched the TV movie it ended up with 7.3 million. It’s such a serious matter for the NBC leadership that it’s rumoured that depending on the ratings for their upcoming drama Crusoe the NBC Co-chairman could recieve the axe himself. Where Knight Rider is concerned if the ratings don’t spike within the next few weeks it will be hard to see it reaching even 13 episodes let along a full season. The original show managed to do several seasons and sent The Hoff into super stardom so if the remake doesn’t even make it to a half-season it’s a bad sign for future remakes. It was considered a great idea after all since the remade version of Battlestar Galactica won viewers quicker than anyone expected, even the network execs.

The only value that the pilot had was that they filmed at my college.

Exactly. I am a die hard fan of the original and I have such huge hopes for this one. I like many of you remember waiting all day to get home and see the new episode of Knight Rider, or the season premier as KITT would be rebuilt brand new and slighly better than before. I mean think about it, Galiath won’t go anywhere near KITT, KITT could morph into a transformer and smash him to bits. To me the best part of Knight Rider was the fact that the car was believeably advanced, we know of hydrolics that move parts in and out, I mean, Kitt was far fetched but one could believe that man could create something this cool. This new car has nano bites that basically can make him flip, flip, flip into any cool car he wants, What’s the point of him being a mustang when he could be a lexus. Don’t get me wrong I’m a ford lover which is why I’m also disappointed in ford, it’s like the show is just an hour long ford motor company commercial, just like TKR. I wonder if Glenn Larson or NBC how some deal with ford. If i were the writers of Knight Rider I would take a look at viewers responses on blogs like these and slowly start scaleing back our baby, stop paying homage to Ford and start paying it to Kitt. Kitt could be more advanced than the original, but in a believeable way, and what on earth is with FLAG taking orders and being basically controled by the FBI, I mean isn’t the message of the show “One Man Can Make A Difference”. I do however love the relationship between Micheal, Sarah and her father and for the most part, the whole cast. I just wish they would seriously TONE DOWN the special effects, something every network should have learned from the fall of the new bionic women, a show did really like, though mostly because of Jamie and the cast. Knight Rider however is one show I will be really upset to see go. I have very fond memories of the original and would love to share those with my family.
