When a science experiment goes awry, Central City Police Department forensic investigator Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is struck by lightening. After he wakes from a coma, it’s apparent that something is different: he now has the ability to run super fast. Extremely super fast. So fast that he can be in one place, go another, and be back before you even knew he was gone fast. And he doesn’t even break a sweat!
But he wasn’t the only person affected by the ill-fated science experiment. He, and soon the residents of Central City, discovers that metahumans have been created as a result of the scientific disaster, many using their newfound powers for nefarious misdeeds instead of niceness.
Deciding to use his powers for good, Barry teams with a group of scientists to help thwart crimes throughout the city, both human- and metahuman-caused. Along with the weekly villains, The Flash also finds Barry investigating the mysterious death of his mom, which left his father in prison for her murder. But did his father do it, or was it someone – or something – else?
It’s only just begun for Barry as he struggles to keep secrets to protect those he cares most about, while being the speedy savior he now feels he has been chosen to play.
