On January 10, 2014, Syfy brings viewers an intriguing and thrill-packed series with Helix. The series focuses on a group of scientists from the Center for Disease Control that is sent to investigate a mysterious virus outbreak in the Arctic. What they believe to be a cut-and-dried containment exercise is anything but as they come up against the group of men and women who are already at the site. The new team soon find themselves in a life and death struggle as they battle a virus that could lead to the destruction of mankind.
Starring Billy Campbell (The Rocketeer, The Killing, The 4400), Jordan Hayes (House at the End of the Street), and Hiroyuki Sanada (Lost, The Wolverine), Helix also brings together creative forces from all around the sci-fi TV and movie spectrum. These include Executive Producers Ron Moore (Battlestar Galactica), Lynda Obst (Contact), and Steven Maeda (Lost, The X-Files), and Brad Turner (Lost).
With such an impressive cast and creative team, Helix looks to be another hit for Syfy much like its other popular series Eureka, Defiance, Haven, among many others. It definitely will excite and engross sci-fi fans.
From what I’ve seen in interviews with Executive Producer Ron Moore, Helix will be filled with tension and also a little humor to offset what is certain to be a very gripping and white-knuckle series. I, for one, can’t wait to check out the series when it airs next year!
