Wow. One the most engaging dramas on TV, Homeland delivers intense action, powerful drama, and plenty of suspense over the course of its freshman season. It’s a series that is incredibly timely. A show that isn’t afraid to question and even provoke answers revolving around some very sensitive politically and culturally charged topics. It’s fantastic.
I had heard about Homeland before and since I don’t have Showtime I never was really too interested. But after watching the series on blu-ray there’s no question that I want to keep watching the series any way I can. The chemistry between Claire Danes and Damian Lewis alone is enough to keep me watching, but the rest of the cast, which includes Mandy Patinkin, help to create a solid and energized ensemble.
After P.O.W. Nick Brody (Lewis) returns to the U.S. after being held captive for eight years in Iraq, CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Danes) gets word that a P.O.W. has been turned and is now working for Al Qaeda. But is it Brody? Will anyone believe her that this war hero is now the enemy? And if it is what is his diabolical mission?

There’s so much to explore and discuss with each episode of Homeland that it’s definitely a series worth multiple viewings just to uncover the hidden secrets and subtext throughout. It’s a wonderfully gripping and satisfying series that will leave you wanting more.
