Bait: 3D – Blu-ray Review

I know what you’re thinking… “Oh, great. Another direct-to-video horror movie. And look, it’s in 3D. Woo.” I, too, had this reaction when I first received Bait to review. The funny thing is that it’s surprisingly good.

Yes, that’s right. Bait is a decent creature feature with lots of solid suspense, some intense kills, and some actual character and story development. It shocked me as well, but I’m not the only one. I let a few friends borrow it and they had the same response. Crazy, huh?

Okay, so admittedly a lot of the CG isn’t that great. But it’s not ILM or WETA Digital so they do get a pass on a few things. But it’s only a handful of CG moments that don’t really work, and I’m guessing they were meant for the 3D version of the film anyway as a gimmicky thing (you’ll see what I mean). Oh, and it’s only in 3D if you have a 3D TV, but both versions are on the same blu-ray disc.

The basic story: following a tsunami, two bloodthirsty sharks get trapped in a flooded grocery store and go on a killing spree. The survivors must put aside their differences and work together to defeat the sharks and escape.

Bait is a lot of fun. I wish there were more special features than just storyboards, but for what it’s worth Bait is a fun 90 minutes that is worth checking out.

Bait: 3D is available NOW on DVD and Blu-ray!
