Sam Raimi’s cult horror classic Evil Dead is getting a remake and it’s coming out on April 12th 2013, ahead of the summer season jam-packed with action blockbusters like Iron Man 3, Star Trek 2, Man of Steel and so on.
Directed by Uruguayan director Fede Alvarez, the movie will have five friends holed up in a cabin who discover the Necronomicon, the Book of the Dead. Unfortunately, there will be no Ash character this time round.
Screenwriters are Rodo Sayagues and Diablo Cody and the film is being produced by Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures, Raimi being the director of the 1981 original.
Shooting starts in March next year at New Zealand, so keep those chainsaws locked on and wish this film a success so that we can have the inevitable (and inevitably awesome) Evil Dead 2 remake.
