More Deus Ex on the way, Square Enix says

What’s that? You didn’t ask for this?

Square Enix, owner of what was former Eidos Interactive and the developers of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Eidos Montreal, have made it clear that they consider Deus Ex a core intellectual property and will be expanding it as a franchise, proving that yes folks, Human Revolution was not a stand-off title. Deus Ex is back and it’s here to stay.

Who’d develop the game is still out for speculation, of course. While members of Eidos Montreal have said they’d enjoy making another Deus Ex game, they’re currently busy at work on Thief 4 (Thi4f, if you will) and an unannounced project (that some conspiracy theorists claim might just be Deus Ex 4).

Apart from Deus Ex, Tomb Raider and Hitman are two other Eidos franchises that Square Enix labels as core intellectual properties, alongside their Japanese franchises Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts.
