Baseball’s Greatest Games: Collector’s Edition – DVD Review

Get ready hardcore baseball fans! Time to toss out those squealing, scratchy, in desperate need of more tracking VHS tapes of your favorite games. A&E in association with Major League Baseball Productions has created a very special compilation that features the greatest games ever played in the history of baseball (well, since the inception of TV and the ability to record said games).

Eleven of these games are brought to you in full, commercial free, and ready to view anytime. Relive your favorite moments from some of the best teams and players with this 11 game set that includes games from 1960 to 2011. It’s definitely a collection that any true baseball fan will want to make a part of their collection.

And it is exactly what I mentioned above; original broadcast versions of eleven historic games throughout the past four decades. You can watch the game in full, you can select a particular inning, and you can choose between the televised audio or the radio broadcast audio depending on your preference in commentary.

There are some who find the idea of watching a baseball game about as exciting as watching a round of golf or watching Curling at 3am during the Winter Olympics (I happen to enjoy Curling, so there!). But this box set is a great way to get someone interested in baseball since these are games that exhibit the very best that the sport has to offer.

What are these games? There are eleven of them, so I’ll give you a quick rundown of what’s included. Since I’m not a sportswriter, I will spare you my attempt to explain each game in detail.

1960 World Series – Game 7: Pittsburgh Pirates vs. New York Yankees

1975 World Series – Game 6: Boston Red Sox vs. Cincinnati Reds

1979 Wrigley Field Slugfest: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Chicago Cubs

1985 NLCS – Game 5: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

1986 World Series – Game 6: Boston Red Sox vs. New York Mets

1991 World Series – Game 7: Atlanta Braves vs. Minnesota Twins

1992 NLCS – Game 7: Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Atlanta Braves

1993 World Series – Game 6: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Toronto Blue Jays

2003 ALCS – Game 7: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

2004 ALCS – Game 4: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

2011 Derek Jeter’s 3000th Hit: New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (this DVD also includes a Post-Game Interview with Jeter and a highlight reel of Jeter’s Milestones)

Wow! That’s a lot of great baseball moments. But what if you have no interest in certain games or teams? What if you just want the games with the Red Sox, Dodgers, or Yankees? Or just want Derek Jeter’s historic 3000th home run to share with your kids?

Not to worry. While there is a box set available, you can also purchase each game separately. So whether you are a fan of baseball in general or a specific team, you can access these great moments in multiple ways.

So get ready for the crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, and the energy that only baseball can deliver!

Individual DVDs of each game are available NOW!
