FIRST CLIP from Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Now I’m all for teasers that show just enough to grip your interest but this is simply cheating. Five quick seconds of footage from Rise of the Planet of the Apes (in theaters August 5, 2011) was released featuring a bafflingly, realistic ape with shifty eyes.  Weta Digital, the special effects studio responsible for the effects in King Kong and Avatar, will be bringing the reboot of the 1968 classic to life.

Okay, I know everyone and his mother disliked Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes remake back in 2001, but Burton did stick with the traditional ape make up and costumes as was done in the original films.  Do you think the move from monkey suits to CGI for the film’s ape characters will make or break the the Planet of the Apes experience?  Share your thoughts with us!
