Cougar Town: Season One – DVD Review

Cougar Town is ABC’s version of Sex and the City. It’s got plenty of sex, plenty of dirty talking women, and lots of befuddled and confused men. Yep, just move the Sex and the City gals to Florida and there ya go.

But wait, there’s one HUGE difference: Courtney Cox is smokin’ hot! Sarah Jessica Parker is attractive, yes, but Courtney Cox is definitely my favorite TV MILF! So, other than Courtney Cox, what did I think of the show?

I wasn’t very impressed. There seemed to be something missing that I couldn’t put my finger on. Perhaps it’s the fact that the show is targeted at the Sex and the City crowd, while I have no plans to be a part of the demographic ever.

This means I get to sound sexist and say that Cougar Town in a chick show. It is about hot older woman (cougars) dating, having sex, and talking about dating and having sex. While I think that the show has a great ensemble cast, it’s just not a show I can find myself watching week after week.

But that doesn’t mean you may not enjoy it. Don’t get me wrong, this is a show from the creators of Scrubs, so it has their particular brand of humor throughout. Since I never really got into Scrubs, this may be another reason I don’t enjoy the series as much as other may.

And it’s not because I look at Courtney Cox and only see her as Monica from Friends or Gale Weathers from the Scream movies. She’s a great actor, delivers a great performance each time, but I just couldn’t identify with her and her situations. This may be because she’s a MILF and I’m not.

If you like or love Cougar Town, please leave a comment and let us know what you like about it. There’s no need to get mean or nasty, I really want to get your feedback. Maybe there are some guys out there who like it, or some women who can share their real life stories that are similar to the situations Courtney Cox finds herself in in the show.

Special features include: Bloopers; Deleted Scenes; Taming Cougar Town featurette; Jimmy Kimmel Live: Saber-Tooth Tiger Town sketch; Ask Barb (answers from a real cougar); and Stroking It With Bobby Cobb (it’s about golf, silly).

Again, love Courtney Cox, think she’s hot, but Cougar Town just didn’t do it for me.

Cougar Town is available NOW on DVD.
