TNT’s hit series, Leverage, returns with six all-new eps starting Wednesday, January 13 at 10pm (ET/PT). I love this series! It’s well-written, clever, entertaining, and the cast is superb. Oscar winner Timothy Hutton leads a solid cast in this thieves-turned-advocates-for-the-little guy show.
Loaded with action, gadgets, engaging plots, and lots of creative con jobs, Leverage continues to get better with each episode. And from the looks of the first two eps of the new six, it has no signs of slowing down.
MIA this season is Gina Bellman who played Sophie, a grifter whom Hutton’s Nate Ford was falling for in more than a professional manner. She does appear via video screen, but her role is minimal for a very good reason: Bellman’s real life pregnancy (check out the season two finale to see how the camera blocking cleverly avoids showing Bellman’s in a full shot from the front).
Filling in for Bellman is the equally sexy Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager, Shark), who gives Ford and his team and run for their money as a fellow grifter and friend of Sophie’s. Ryan’s a great addition to an already solid cast, and the chemistry between them speaks for itself.
Expect more elaborate con games, trickery, and Robin Hood-style help as Leverage launches into the next set of eps. These include:
“The Runway Job” (January 13 premiere)
In order to take down an oppressive sweatshop owner, the Leverage team infiltrates the fashion world.
A pitch-perfect episode that hits all the right notes. Check out Hutton’s hilarious “role” as a fashionista, it’s worth seeing twice.
“The Bottle Job” (January 20)
The Leverage team runs a high-tech version of a classic con on a predatory loan shark to save McRory’s bar.
Ford has a personal stake in what happens in this ep, which makes his actions and decisions resonate on a deeper level with all members of his team. There’s a lot of pieces that come together in a very tight time frame which makes the stakes even higher for all involved.
With so much going for it, Leverage is definitely a must-see TV drama. I cannot recommend this series enough. Check out Leverage on TNT starting this week, and grab season one on DVD! Check out my review of season one here!
Leverage returns January 13, 2010 at 10pm (ET/PT) only on TNT.
Really like this show. There’s is nothing on television that is more fun to watch then “Leverage”.

Loved the show! For TV, this was absolutely amazing – and like the recapper stated, much better than the Ocean’s Eleven sequels.
