Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! – Blu-ray/DVD Review

Horton

Jim Carrey sure is a favorite in the world of Dr. Seuss. First he took on the role of the Grinch in the live-action version of the 1966 animated TV special Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, based on the book of the same name. Years later, Carrey voiced the elephant Horton in the beautifully animated movie Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! I wonder if there were any regrets casting Mike Myers as the Cat in the Hat instead of Jim Carrey?

But before either of those Carrey-starring films even existed, there were animated specials based on Dr. Seuss’ books, one of which was Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who!

This wonderful story about the value of life and the beauty found in even the tiniest of objects has a message that still rings true today (hence the recent film version). It’s a great story with great characters and loads of fun to watch.

What makes this Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Copy combo pack so good is the massive amount of extras that can be found on both the Blu-ray and DVD. Not only do you get the classic animated special Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who!, you also get three other animated specials.

These include: Butter Battle Book, Daisy-Head Mayzie, and Horton Hatches an Egg. But wait, there’s more!

You also get a 90 minute special that celebrates the life and works of Dr. Seuss, In Search of Dr. Seuss. The celeb-filled tribute features Robin Williams, Patrick Stewart, Christopher Lloyd, Howie Mandel, and Billy Crystal, along with many others. It’s off-beat, a little off-putting at first, but a must-se for the avid Seuss fan.

There’s also a sing-along Music Video called: You Can Hear Horton, Horton Can Hear You! for the hardcore fans.

Don’t miss this remastered version of the classic animated version of Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! A definite must-see!
