Epic to release Unreal Engine 3 Toolset for Consumers?

What will you do with your very own high-end game development solution?

Unreal Engine 3 has a quite a reputation, with a bevy of games under its wing, from the highly-acclaimed BioShock and Batman: Arkham Asylum, to the less exciting Tom Clacny’s EndWar or 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. It’s being used in a number of games that have yet to come out, like Alpha Protocol or Mass Effect 2.

But have you, dear consumer, ever wondered what you’d do if you had your very own Unreal Engine 3 development toolset? Have you ever wondered how you’d craft your innermost fantasies in the same engine you explored Rapture in? Rumour has it, that Epic is looking to do just that, give power to the people (after charging them, that is).

According to a Joystiq mole, Epic is planning on bringing out a toolset that can be used by consumers like you and me who have neither the funds nor the space to own a massive development studio for video games.

The price shouldn’t be too high, and it should be fairly easy for us unwashed masses to use, but remember, it’s all a rumour as of now, and we might very well never hear of this again. But still, who doesn’t want their own Unreal Engine-based game?
