Whether it *is* gold or not, will be revealed come release day, of course.

Gearbox Software’s Borderlands has officially gone gold, according to a blog post on their community site. Not particularly surprising or exciting news, seeing as the game is due for release in just two weeks. On the consoles, it will be made available on October 20th and 23rd, while the PC release is due for October 26th and 30th (North America and PAL Countries respectively).

Borderlands happens to be one of the few games this year that actually looks to be of interest. All the others were booted to 2010 because a certain first-person shooter named Modern Warfare 2 decided to show up this November. If you’re late to the party, here’s the lowdown on Borderlands:

It’s a game for the PC, Xbox 360 & PS3. First-person shooter, with role-playing elements such as picking up loot, experience, character development etc. all in a strong action background. A special feature is the weapon generation system, that essentially generates crazy weird weapons by assembling random components. And an open-world to do all this in, of course. But really, for the full deal, check out the official site!
