2K Boston’s Next Ambitious Project is a Shooter

Bet you thought they were planning to enter the rhythm games market.

A quick peak at the job listings page for 2K Boston reveals what the BioShock developer is now looking for a:

  • Principal Combat Designer
  • Multiplayer Level Designer
  • Level Designer

While they don’t give away anything about the project itself (other than it most likely includes multiplayer, or multiplayer levels at the very least), I can already get this epic-2k-boston-game vibe from the listings page. Just look at what they want from a multiplayer level designer:

“We expect you to conceive and execute level ideas that shock, immerse, amaze and create an experience that blows gamers’ minds.”

“No applicants will be considered who aren’t able to demonstrate they’ve got the skills to build an industry-changing multiplayer design.”

Mere industry babble or a serious indication of what they’re trying to achieve? With 2K Boston, it could very well be the latter. In an interview with Gamasutra, Ken Levine revealed a little about what they’ve been doing after BioShock:

We needed a certain kind of length for the title, because we had a scope and ambition in mind which is more ambitious than anything we’ve ever done. Even more, substantially more ambitious than BioShock.

I’d also recommend you to read the whole interview, very insightful stuff. Well anyway, we’ll just keep speculating here until 2K Boston is ready to tell us what their big bomb is going to be.
