Paramount Pictures has started to release classic 70s, 80s, and 90s movies onto Blu-Ray. These remastered editions feature HD-quality picture and sound, and deliver the highest-quality version of the film. Let’s a take a look at a few and see what they include:

Wayne’s World (1992)

waynedvd

A classic Mike Myers movie that makes you long for the days when The Love Guru was only a passing thought. Truly one of the best films of the early 90s, Wayne’s World was also one of the few Saturday Night Live sketches to achieve box office notoriety.

Special features include audio commentary by director Penelope Spheeris; Wayne’s World Extreme Close-up: Exclusive Cast & Crew Interviews; and an HD version of the original theatrical trailer.

Aside from the HD trailer, the special features are the same on the DVD version of the film.

Wayne’s World 2 (1993)

While not as good as the original, Wayne’s World 2 does have plenty of laughs and celeb cameos. With Waynestock, Garth losing his virginity, and Christopher Walken, it can’t be all that bad! A worthwhile must-see for fans of Wayne’s World.

With a commentary by director Stephen Surjik, and an Extreme Close-up: Exclusive Cast & Crew Interviews for Wayne’s World 2, these bonus features are the same as the ones found on the DVD.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: Bueller…Bueller…Edition (1986)

Another classic slacker comedy, this film stars a young Matthew Broderick doing anything he can to stay out of going to school. There’s a lot of good-natured laughs involved thanks to screenwriter and director John Hughes, who is the king of 80s teen comedy.

Bonus features include: Getting the Cast Together: The Cast of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off; The Making of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off; Who is Ferris Bueller; The World According to Ben Stein; Vintage Ferris Bueller: The Lost Tapes; and Class Album.

The special features are the same on the DVD version of the film.

Black Sheep (1996)

Chris Farley and David Spade’s second cinematic outing as a comedy duo is one of my faves, and it’s sad that others don’t feel the same way. Black Sheep may not be the greatest film ever made, but it delivers plenty of laughs and has a cameo by Gary Busey! What more could you ask for???

I know, I know! How about some bonus features? Not even a trailer in HD graces this Blu-ray edition. RIP Chris Farley.

Major League: Wild Thing Edition (1989)

Major League does to baseball what Caddyshack did for golf. It’s a hilarious and raucous take on the game and those who participate within its universe. Starring Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, and Corbin Bernsen, this is must-see for baseball fans and fans of sports-related movies. Good stuff, and Bob Uecker (Mr. Belvedere)!

Special features include: Audio commentary by Writer/Director David S. Ward and Producer Chris Chesser; My Kinda Team; A Major League Look at Major League; Bob Uecker: Just a Bit Outside; Alternate Ending with Filmmaker Introduction; A Tour of Cerrano’s Locker; and a Photo Gallery.

And guess what, the special features are the same on the DVD version of the film.

Grease: Rockin Rydell Edition (1978)

Click here for my review of the DVD version of the film, which also has the same special features.

If you currently own these films on DVD, it may not be worth buying these Blu-rays. If you are a die-hard Blu-ray fan, and don’t own editions of these movies, you may want to check these versions out and enjoy quality picture and sound on these classic Paramount movies.
